J Sainsbury plc (the Company) announces that Phil Jordan a Person Discharging Managerial Responsibility (PDMR) was granted on 2 February 2018, �a core award under the J Sainsbury plc Long Term Incentive Plan 2016 (Future Builder award) as a nil cost option over 88,456 ordinary shares of 28^4/7 pence each in the Company (Shares).

�

The award is subject to performance conditions measured over three financial years and is subject to the same terms as other participants. The award will normally vest in two tranches, 50% in May 2020 and 50% in May 2021 subject to the achievement of the performance conditions. Should maximum vesting be achieved, Mr Jordan will receive four times the number of Shares granted under the core award.

Dividend equivalents will be payable in respect of vested Shares.
